Description: A majority of my practice is helping clients resolve problems relating to divorce, custody, legal separation, child support, premarital agreements, and parenting time agreements. The goal is to accomplish my client's purpose in a way that is efficient and negotiate resolutions avoiding unnecessary litigation. However, if a cooperative agreement cannot be reached, effective and zealous trial representation becomes our purpose. Many people believe that they can do their divorce without the help of a lawyer. This may be true if the marriage was of a short duration and issues involving real property, pensions, child custody, parenting time and support are not involved. However, if property or children are involved, it is very difficult for a non-lawyer to know the law and be able to effective and objectively apply the law to their situation in a way that allows both spouses a fair result. A lawyer helps you have an objective view of your situation in relation to law. A lawyer's goal should be to bring calm and confidence to the legal issues, what often is a very stressful situation. It is hard to represent yourself, however, a lot of my clients come to my office for an initial interview, not because they wish to take legal action, but to find out their rights, the "nuts and bolts" of Oregon divorce law. Our goal is to help our clients through the financial and custody issues involved with divorce.
