Judges, therefore, try to delegate as much as they can in divorce and custody cases to court staff, mediators, and special advocates. In turn, these officials put great pressure on the parties to compromise. Although mediation has its place, I resist compromise when it is not in your interest-or your children's interest-to compromise.
