Description: Statistically, most Family Law cases settle. Sometimes parties come to an agreement before an attorney is consulted, while other cases are resolved at the courthouse on the day appointed for trial. Usually, however, matters are resolved somewhere in between. My best sources of business are existing and former clients. This is because I strive to resolve marital dissolution proceedings efficiently and cost-effectively. I don't believe in wasting my time or my client's money. While some lawyers bill a client by the day or half-day in court, others bill in minimum increments of a quarter hour. I, however, bill by the hour, in tenth-of-an-hour increments. Having practiced Family Law exclusively since 1981, I am fully cognizant of the emotions arising in a divorce following a failed marriage. I endeavor to make the proceedings as painless and least aggravating as possible for the client, bearing in mind that settlement is a function of the attitude of both parties. I do not hold myself out as either a "man's lawyer" or a "woman's lawyer." This is because I believe that for an attorney to competently represent a party, he or she must possess balance and have full familiarity with the psycho-dynamics of both of both male and female litigants. My initial approach to all cases is to create an atmosphere where all "cards" are put "on the table" in an effort to expeditiously resolve matters, both immediate and long-term. If, however, the opposing counsel or opposing spouse or former spouse is recalcitrant, uncooperative, or otherwise acts in a counter-productive manner, then I will do anything and everything needed to aggressively protect my client's interests. Of course, whether the matter is a "no brainer" or a "knock down, drag out," my clients are kept fully informed of the status of the proceedings and must fully understand and approve of any matters of substance affecting the disposition of their case.
